First, let's clear up a few things.
Ordination is according to freedictionary.com's legal dictionary,by civil and eccl. law. The act of conferring the orders
of the church upon an individual. Nov. 137.
Now, what the HELLS does that MEAN?
Basically it means the church, ie originally the anglican, catholic, and orthodox, but now everybody in general, recognizes
you as an expert, fit to lead a congregation.
Why is this important? Because in some countries still, there is this thing called sanctuary. This means that a soldier
or policeman cannot arrest you or fire upon you in the church. We must remember that the Church <old roman catholic and
orthodox both> are considered a state by UN and pre 1900 laws, and have full sovereignty, they are a State with all the
privelages, including diplomatic immunity and the right to extradite or give citizenship. You can see then why it was important
to protect everybody from idiots who might abuse such powers.
As far as requirements, technically that varies from state to state. However, thanks to a recent supreme court ruling,
in 1974, no state can mess with your RIGHT to establish a church, no matter what the state thinks of you. Here's part of the
actual ruling:
"Neither this Court, nor any branch of this Government, will consider the merits or fallacies of a religion. Nor
will the Court compare the beliefs, dogmas, and practices of a newly organized religion with those of an older, more established
religion. Nor will the Court praise or condemn a religion, however excellent or fanatical or preposterous it may seem. Were
the Court to do so, it would impinge upon the guarantees of the First Amendment."
The requirements, as a newer religion, are simple. get a "doing business as" in your county, ie register the
church. Then file with the state for a state incoroporation, then get your federal EIN, that lets you buy at wholesale and
pay taxes until you get your 501c3 non profit status. You cannot get 501c3 <legal charity and church status> without
going the full route. The 501c3 is expensive, but unburdens you from many expenses and frees you to grow as a church.
Do you really need nonprofit status to be a church and marry people legally?
NO! Not true, not in any state, that's against federal law.
But, and this but is huge, i highly recommend it.
Do you need 501c3 to ordain people?
Nope, same deal, and ordination is simply one idiot telling the state that you believe and can teach and preach, period.
Nobody needs to be chartered, or join some temple with it's head up it's buttocks to be a priest.
The why the hell do it?!!!
Because many counties and cities have not amended their laws yet to fit the ruling. yes, i know, that was years ago, but
it's still a slow process and nobody will change if they don't know they need it.
Here's my thing. i don't care for the idea of, let me recall, how did Peter Gilmore say it? Oh yeah, count Chocula fanclub
members, or 18 year old rebels posing as real clergy. I feel that if your going to be involved with the public on any damn
level, you ought to know some basic things about religion, philosophy, science, history, and culture. The very prescence of
you ought to be intellectual, and reassuring. people ought to be trained, not just handed a certificate, or a card, and then
say "I'm Chief Gobble Buttocks of the High temple of Dracula!"
Ok, maybe that's a wee bit harsh, but think about it, how does an ass like that make US all LOOK?! If you can't deal with
christians, jews and muslims, who are the mainstream of western society, how the hell can you get along or even survive?
I don't know about certain people, but i'm not comfortable handing out charters or titles without written proof of the persons
intelligence and integrity. And i'm certainly not handing a bipolar person a clergy title til i know they are educated and
medicated as to how to behave! That's atrocious!
RCOS is not perfect. We don't know everything by a long short <say a million times a million miles,ok?> But we darn
sure want our clergy titles to MEAN something, not be hollow balls of sound or dirty paper in some pedophiles pockets. We
want to be respected by Outsiders, because they sure the hell outnumber us. we won't kiss ass, lie, or hide anymore, but we're
not commiting reputational suicide by sending Chief Bumblebutt, the pimple monster or Mrs. Psycho out there talking for us.
We also want to maintain a 99% offline prescence, it's not our goal to be highly active online. To us the internet is
frought with the perile of misinformation and rumor, and we're not cool with melodrama. Too many orgs are 70% or more online,
and have "online members" who they never talk to in person or on the phone, and whom they have no mail adress and
identification confirmation. Are these folks looking for trouble? What, with all the troubles we have all had with hackers,
other orgs fooling with us, and sex offenders, you'd think we all would reconsider our positions.
What we would rather do, is present ourselves to the world as we are. Fluffy bunnies, happy go lucky fools, cheesey showmen,
yup, that's us, no bullshit. We know we need work, and we're blessed proud of it. We know this isn't going to be huge or easy,
but that's okay, we're trying.
Tell us, can you be proud of where you are?
Does your certificate mean anything in court or an interfaith group?
Do you have self-respect, knowing you worked hard for it?
Can you say you have total commitment from leadership to help you create your organization?
Are your leaders friendly? or Tyrants?
Can you join any other group with no hassles?
Does your leadership RESPECT you and other members?
Does your leadership work with other satanic orgs?
How about charity? What does your org do?
How about interfaith relations? Have any?
Think on these...and let us know your honest feelings, we won't share them with anybody.
